About Us
At OxSTaR our aim is to improve patient safety by providing healthcare professionals with a realistic simulated environment to practice and enhance their ability to cope with medical emergencies without fear of harming patient either in our out of hospital.
The suite can be changed to represent an operating theatre, a bay on a ward, or even a GP surgery. A control room allows the session coordinator to adapt the patient’s condition according to the actions of the trainees. A seminar room offers space for briefing, feedback and lectures.
The suite enables us to maximise the learning potential by integrating video, audio and mannequin data into feedback sessions.
We also have a portable mannikin to facilitate off site sessions allowing us to enhance teaching and training outside the centre.
There is currently a commitment to provide training for Foundation Yr 1 and 2 doctors and final year medical students and other health care practitioners at all levels. We continue to develop the centre to expand simulation training on and off site with a special focus on pre hospital care as well as branching into training for private healthcare providers and non-medical businesses.
We are also able to work with trainers to develop bespoke courses across the spectrum of simulation training.
